With my love for most old-fashioned needle arts, it's no secret that I have a little old granny that resides within my body- generally she quietly sits twiddling her thumbs, hidden inside biding her time until the day when she will start dying her hair wacky shades of blue and cackling over donuts with friends each morning down at Chuck's (oh sweet Chucks) because she and I will have little else to do, but for now- I let the old biddy out for an hour or two each night while I work on whatever cross stitch that tickles my fancy for the moment as a way to unwind each night. You may remember when I posted a little over two years ago that my sister and I decided to tackle a few designs by Scott Gustafson- these are crazy hard, super detailed projects that are 18 inches wide and 22 inches tall on 25 count fabric (625 stitches per inch)- don't do the math, it's crazy..... Anyways, my first of the projects is finished, I put off the laundry yesterday long enough to complete my Princess and the Frog design (which I started before I even knew Disney was recreating the story- it's always been a favorite of mine). So here are a few shots of the finished product- it's not framed yet, so please excuse the rumpled look to it-
Here's a shot of the process- this is two pages of the design, and there were 36 of them to do:
and here's the final product:

Krisser! I'm sooo happy you posted this!!! Now I can brag to all my friends about your progress. I'm afraid you let your granny out much more than I do. I'm maybe 1/2 way done on my "Pat-a-Cake", so another 2 years should do the trick. hahaha. I've got 4 more designs waiting for me to do. I guess this should keep me busy for the next decade. I think I've decided to keep them all (I know- I have never kept one of my cross stitches and I don't think you have either) and give them to grandchildren when they are born. haha I'm sure a planner at 32 when my oldest is only 10. :)
Love you!
P.S. We really should start sending them back and forth to each other again like we have on other cross stitching projects.
it looks absolutely amazing edna! and us ole' biddies should hang out very very soon... (and for sure stop at Chucks)
Wow, I am glad you posted this. All I have to say is AMAZING! You are so talented!
Yes, Edna, it's beautiful. Very beautiful. Great job! You are my inspiration. . . (I just sang that to you, BTW)
Ooh, can I come to Chuck's too? I love me some greasy maple bars.
oh my heck! I had no idea you were so cross-stitch happy! Wow, what a project- turned out beautiful!
Karalenn showed me the designs quite a while back. Probably when you started them? It looks amazing! I am so impressed with your talents. Karalenn has bragged about you from time to time. I can't wait to see Karalenn's now when she finishes.

A-MA-ZING! Seriously, you are my crafting hero! You should check out my cousin Missy's blog S.Y.T.Y.C. (So you think you're crafty). It is a great place to get ideas. I was actually thinking it would be fun for you and Kare to compete in the competition. here's the link http://www.soyouthinkyourecrafty.com/
Check it out and tell me what you think. BTW, do you have a Kindle or a Nook?
Oh my sweetest goodness, this is amazing! My grandma does needle arts so I'm familiar with the topic - but I've never seen something like this, it looks like an oil painting!
